Care
With the right care, your knitwear will maintain its beauty, shape and softness for years to come.
We encourage care practices that are gentle on the garment and the environment.
Our knitwear contains no hidden synthetic elastic, allowing each piece to remain fully biodegradable and gently regain its shape after washing.
General Knitwear Care
Hand wash gently in cool water with a mild biodegradable detergent. Do not wring. Press water out between towels, then dry flat out of direct sunlight and away from heat.
To maintain your knitwear over time, we recommend hand washing. Our pieces containing organic cotton can also be machine washed on a cold, gentle cycle. Between washes, refresh your knitwear by airing it out.
When in doubt, choose the gentlest option; hand wash and dry flat in shade.
Store your knitwear folded, never hanging, to maintain its shape. When not in use, store in the organic cotton storage sleeve provided. Ensure your knitwear is clean and fully dry before storage.
For detailed care instructions, please refer to your garment care label or the product page for each design. The care label is located behind the knitted brand label.
Pilling
Pilling is a natural characteristic of knitwear made from soft, natural, high quality fibres. It occurs as the yarn relaxes and from friction during wear.
To care for pilling, gently remove surface pilling with a wool comb. Avoid pressing into the knit. With time, pilling will lessen as the fibres settle.
Repairs
Each Fruitchouli piece is knitted to last. If your knitwear becomes damaged, we can offer a complimentary repair. For assistance, please contact us at info@fruitchouli.com, with postage to our studio covered by the sender.
Depending on the damage, some mends may require unique techniques or stitching that adds to the character of the piece rather than restoring it to its original state.
Repairs do not cover damage resulting from incorrect washing or care.
If a piece is beyond repair, we welcome it back. Pieces may be eligible for studio credit, as materials can often be repurposed within our studio.
