Our Yarns
Every yarn we select for our Australian-made knitwear is chosen for exceptional comfort, complete biodegradability, and adherence to rigorous social and environmental standards. All meet OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 requirements.
All Fruitchouli knitwear is 100% plastic-free. We do not use hidden synthetic elastic in our cuffs, collars or trims. While many brands add small amounts of elastane that are not required to be disclosed, every Fruitchouli garment is made solely from biodegradable yarns and finishes.
Each Fruitchouli piece is designed for lasting wear and, at the end of its long life, will naturally return to the earth without synthetic waste.
100% Yak
Yak wool sourced directly from Tibetan communities. Our yarn supplier pioneered the global yak wool standard, focusing on high animal welfare and transparent sourcing. This internationally recognised standard was launched in 2025.
Two of our yak yarns, Natural Brown and Natural Taupe, are undyed, highlighting the fibre’s natural colour. The yarn is sorted by hand, and as a result, slight colour variations may occur depending on the year, region, and weather.
Yaks naturally emit less methane and graze more gently than goats or sheep, making yak wool a more sustainable alternative to both sheep wool and cashmere. Our supplier has supported over 4000 Tibetan families, working directly with local communities to train their young leaders on best animal welfare practices and fibre quality assurance processes.
Benefits: 30% warmer than wool, 1.6x more breathable than cashmere.

100% Pure Undyed Cashmere
Dye-free and treatment-free cashmere yarn that is DNA tested and traceable. This cashmere wool takes a minimalist approach, highlighting the natural colour of cashmere goats.
Benefits: Exceptionally soft and naturally insulating, with a light, breathable hand. Pure undyed cashmere retains the fibre’s natural colour variations and is free from dyes and chemical treatments.
Circularity: Biodegradable.
95% Organic Cotton 5% Cashmere
Carbon neutral yarn made from OCS and GOTS Certified Organic Cotton and GCS Certified Cashmere. No synthetic pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, or chemical fertilisers were used when growing the organic cotton.
Benefits: Blends the freshness, breathability and ease of care of organic cotton with the softness of cashmere.
Circularity: Biodegradable.
70% Organic Cotton 30% SeaCell™ Lyocell
SeaCell™ Lyocell is an extremely comfortable fibre made exclusively from sustainable raw materials, specifically eucalyptus wood from FSC-certified forests, and seaweed harvested from the Icelandic fjords. It is made in a closed-loop production process, with certifications available here.
No synthetic pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, or chemical fertilisers were used when growing the OCS Certified Organic Cotton.
Benefits: SeaCell™ Lyocell is soft, breathable, moisture-regulating, hypoallergenic, and gentle on sensitive skin. It contains natural antioxidants from brown seaweed (Ascophyllum nodosum), which may help protect the skin from environmental stressors.
Circularity: Biodegradable.
