Every yarn, finish, and piece of packaging is chosen for its minimal impact and natural return to earth. Designed to be cherished and worn for years, each piece reflects the care taken before, during, and after it reaches you.
Biodegradable Knitwear
All our yarns, knitwear and finishings are made entirely from naturally biodegradable materials. We use no fibres or components of synthetic origin, and all our products are plastic-free.
Every element is considered, from our organic cotton care labels and knitted cotton–cashmere brand labels to our organic cotton bags and FSC-certified paper tags attached with reclaimed yarn from our studio.
Each Fruitchouli piece is designed for lasting wear and made only from materials that naturally break down without synthetic waste at the end of its life.
The packaging used for your Fruitchouli pieces is also 100% biodegradable, reusable and curbside recyclable.
Repair & Recycling
If your garment is damaged, please reach out to us for our repair service at info@fruitchouli.com. We believe in keeping garments in use for as long as possible.
If you are ready to part ways with your Fruitchouli knitwear, we advise you to research donation options, government garment recycling methods, or selling your piece through a reputable pre-loved process.
Our Yarns
Every yarn we select for our Australian-made knitwear is chosen for exceptional comfort, natural biodegradability, and adherence to rigorous social and environmental standards. All meet OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 requirements.

Components and Packaging
The certifications listed below were valid when we purchased these materials from our suppliers. In some cases, suppliers provide certifications from when they originally purchased the certified materials. We update these documents if any have expired when reordering.
Garment Label
Origin: Knitted in-house at our Australian knitwear studio.
Composition: Carbon neutral yarn made from 95% Organic Content Standard (OCS) and Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) Certified Organic Cotton and 5% Good Cashmere Standard (GCS) Cashmere. Sewn on with reclaimed yarn from our knitwear studio, matching the same yarn composition as the garment.
End-of-life: 100% biodegradable.
Care Label
Origin: China
Composition: GOTS certified organic cotton with sustainable ink. Sewn in with undyed organic cotton thread.
End-of-life: 100% biodegradable.
Sewing Thread
Origin: The Netherlands
Composition: 100% undyed GOTS certified organic cotton with OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification.
End-of-life: 100% biodegradable.
Handmade Drawstrings
Origin: Created in-house at our Australian knitwear studio.
Composition: Reclaimed yarn recycled from unwinding product samples and tests in our knitwear studio. When making drawstrings, we use the same yarn composition that has been used for the main garment.
End-of-life: 100% biodegradable.
Bookmark Hang Tag
Origin: Paper from Japan. Printed in South Korea.
Composition: FSC-certified 100% paper printed with eco soy-based inks. Attached with reclaimed yarn from our knitwear studio.
End-of-life: Thoughtfully designed to be repurposed as a bookmark. 100% at-home compostable and curbside recyclable. Remove yarn if recycling hang tag. Yarn is biodegradable.
Tote Bags
Origin: Our trusted supplier has a global network of accredited manufacturers.
Composition: GOTS certified 100% organic cotton canvas. Digitally printed with water-based foodsafe ink.
End-of-life: 100% biodegradable.
Drawstring Bags
Origin: Our trusted supplier has a global network of accredited manufacturers.
Composition: GOTS certified 100% organic cotton fabric. Digitally printed with water-based foodsafe ink.
End-of-life: 100% biodegradable.
Shipping Boxes
Origin: Made in Australia.
Composition: FSC-certified glue-free kraft boxes. Logo printed with soy-based ink.
End-of-life: Reusing the box is the best option for our environment. Curbside recyclable and 100% at-home compostable.
Packaging Tape
Origin: Our trusted supplier has a global network of accredited manufacturers.
Composition: 100% FSC-certified kraft paper. Non-toxic water-activated adhesive and printed with soy-based ink.
End-of-life: Reusable, 100% at-home compostable and curbside recyclable; meaning you do not have to remove the tape from our shipping boxes when recycling.
Shipping and Barcode Labels
Origin: Made in Australia.
Composition: 100% biodegradable and compostable labels, with 100% compostable adhesive. The shipping label is pre-printed using compostable ink. Direct Thermal technology allows us to print our labels without the need for ink.
End-of-life: 100% at-home compostable and curbside recyclable; meaning you do not have to remove the labels when recycling.
Laundering Treatments
Origin: Manufactured by ecostore in New Zealand in a certified carbonNZero factory.
Composition: Plant and mineral-based ingredients, naturally derived fragrances. Free from optical brighteners, phosphates, and synthetic dyes. Cruelty free. Containers are made from renewable sugarcane plastic.
End-of-life: Residue is grey-water safe and suitable for our on-site worm farm septic systems. Containers are curbside recyclable.
Shipping
All shipping is carbon offset through Australia Post (Australian deliveries) and UPS (international deliveries).
